6 months!

We can harly believe that we've hit the half year mark! Looking at Paloma it is hard to recall when she only weighed 7lbs 6oz -- she's now over 27 inches tall and more than 20-1/2 lbs, has her first tooth, and her ears pierced (fake diamond studs -- see above)!

Paloma is sporting the flashy red hearts outfit from Tia Celinda -- which should have fit for Valentine's Day, but she's already outgrown it (as most other clothes). She's now wearing size 12 months comfortably!
Here's an update on some of our fun-packed adventures...

Trini's presentation at a meeting in DC provided us the opportunity to celebrate Trini's birthday with the Jungs and the Bakers (Jehanna, Joe and Julie). Paloma, Lucas and Isaac had fun playing together again. With the help of Lucas' friend Sarena (and their mothers) they suprised Tia Trini with birthday cupcakes (photo courtesy of Lucas). Paul and Helen watched Paloma so that we could revisit the Spanish Tapas restaurant, Jaleo, where we had our first date almost 4 years ago exactly!

Back in New Hampshire, Paloma is meeting new friends at the Baby-Signs class at Gymboree. She loves the songs we sing there and the time with other little people!

After 6 months of eating breast milk exclusively, Paloma ventured into the wonderfully exciting world of solids. Her first attempt went well but then she caught a bug at daycare and wanted nothing of the cereal for about 2 weeks. As she has begun to feel better her appetite for the cereal has picked up and we're sure in no time she will be looking for more variety in her diet!While Trini was left to care for Paloma when she was sick, Travis was in Honduras on a medical mission with a local Rotary group... in fact we all were sick to some degree -- Trini had the same viral thing that Paloma had, and Travis developed a sinus infection in Honduras... luckily he avoided the Moctezuma's revenge that the other volunteers did pick up. Over the course of the week there Travis saw about 200 people with everything from "bad blood" (translation, "I'd like some vitamins, please") to chronic cough from smoke inhalation (everyone cooks with open fires in their homes and most don't have chimneys.) The oddest problem that he saw was a bite by an insect that injects a worm under its victim's skin... gross! The people were very nice and the food was simple but tasty. Overall, it was a very rewarding experience... but at the same time it was hard to be away from my darling Trini and my ever-smiling Palomita!
